Atlantis Hotel, Melbourne

0

CK Architecture was commissioned to design new multi residential apartments and a hotel linked at carpark levels and lobby to the existing hotel. Atlantis Hotel is made up of 280 hotel suites and 18 residential levels. We successfully maximised the site in height and bulk by pushing title boundary limits with town planning. Balconies overhang above the street to maximise the building footprint. Clever design included small and affordable studio apartments with the added flexibility to combine two or three apartments without impacting on construction costs.

It was conceived in a modern idiom with a slight oriental tinge. It provides all the standard features of a luxury hotel: restaurants, bars, spa, gymnasium and a swimming pool. The top three floors offer penthouse accommodation with multiple suites in 2 – 4 key combinations, all with stunning views of the city or the bay. External materials including natural stone, aluminium cladding and glass were all incorporated. The interior wall surfaces feature blond cherry veneers and the floors in polished stone, wood or luxurious carpet. The ambiance was designed to promote tranquility, meditation and a zen quality – offering the guests an oasis of peace in the sea of city bustle.
